He added that if justice is not demanded today, the next generations and the existence of the entire Armenian nation will be in danger.

The Charity Foundation “Doctors and Volunteers of Armenia. VIVA” expressed extreme concern over the critical deterioration of Ruben Vardanyan’s health after a week-long hunger strike.

“As professionals guided by the principles of medical ethics and the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, we must declare that the current situation poses a direct threat to Ruben Vardanyan’s life and requires immediate intervention by international humanitarian and medical organizations,” the foundation said in a statement.

VIVA added that, in accordance with international standards, the defendant should be transferred to a hospital, where he will be looked after by qualified doctors.
