“I’ve already said that these fabricated trials are also distinguished by numerous absurdities, fictitious stories and invented testimonies. This episode once again proves that the charges are politically motivated. Even if we leave aside the Azerbaijani narrative about the events in Khojaly, which are refuted precisely by the testimony of former Azerbaijani President Mutalibov, it is obvious that during the one and a half year preliminary investigation, the prosecutors did not even bother to at least align the charges with the biographies of political prisoners. For example, it is known from Vardanyan’s biography that at that time he studied at Moscow State University, which he graduated from in 1992,” Sahakyan noted.
